Overview:

The Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in financial planning, analysis, and decision-making within an organization. They analyze financial data, prepare reports, and provide insights to support strategic initiatives, optimize performance, and drive financial effectiveness. This position will require deployment to disaster areas. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will require the individual to deploy to a covered disaster are within 48 hours of notification.

The deployment areas will cover FEMA regions 3 & 4, Delaware, DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

Job Summary:

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of financial data, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and key performance indicators (KPIs), to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans, collaborating with departmental managers and senior leadership to align financial goals with organizational objectives.
  • Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate the financial impact of various scenarios, investment opportunities, and strategic initiatives, providing recommendations based on quantitative analysis.
  • Variance Analysis: Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted and forecasted targets, investigate variances, and communicate findings to management to support decision-making and course correction as needed.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze costs and expenses across different departments, products, or projects, identifying areas of cost inefficiency, recommending cost-saving measures, and monitoring cost reduction initiatives.
  • Investment Evaluation: Evaluate investment opportunities, mergers and acquisitions, capital projects, and other strategic initiatives by conducting financial due diligence, assessing risk factors, and preparing investment proposals.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and distribute financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for management, investors, and other stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to measure business performance, assess operational efficiency, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis: Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as requested by senior management, providing insights and recommendations on specific financial issues or strategic questions.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls, and assist in risk assessment and mitigation activities to safeguard the organization's financial health.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of experience in a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role, with a strong foundation in financial analysis, modeling, and reporting.
