About Us: Toolkit Tutors is a provider of in-school and after-school tutoring services, dedicated to enhancing student learning through a fusion of traditional high-impact tutoring and study skills training.

Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Bilingual ELA Regents Tutor to join our team to provide in-person tutoring at a South Queens high school, starting this fall. The ideal candidate will work in-person with high school students to prepare them for the ELA Regents exam, providing instruction in English while communicating effectively in Spanish with students and their families. This role is crucial in helping students build a strong foundation in ELA, setting them up for long-term academic success.

Compensation and Schedule:

• Target launch date of September 16, 2024 running through May 2025
• Schedule of 2-3 five-hour days each week
• Pay range from $28-$30 per hour depending on prior tutoring experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and small-group tutoring sessions in ELA to students in grades 9-12
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of bilingual learners.
• Communicate effectively in Spanish with students and their families to ensure understanding and engagement.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to support student learning and engagement.
• Collaborate with school staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field.
• Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
• Previous experience in tutoring or teaching high school ELA
• Familiarity with the ELA New York State Regents exam
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with high school students and adapt to their individual learning needs.
