Position Overview

Role Summary: We are in search of a committed and enthusiastic Bilingual ELA Regents Tutor to deliver in-person educational assistance at a local high school. The selected candidate will engage with high school learners to prepare them for the ELA Regents examination, delivering instruction in English while effectively communicating in Spanish with students and their families. This position plays a vital role in establishing a solid foundation in English Language Arts, paving the way for students' future academic accomplishments.

Compensation and Work Schedule:

  • Flexible schedule of 2-3 five-hour sessions each week.
  • Hourly compensation ranging from $28 to $30 based on previous tutoring experience.

Key Duties:

  • Conduct personalized and small-group tutoring sessions in ELA for students in grades 9-12.
  • Design and execute engaging lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of bilingual students.
  • Effectively communicate in Spanish with students and their families to foster understanding and participation.
  • Track and evaluate student progress, providing consistent feedback to educators and parents.
  • Employ diverse instructional strategies and resources to enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Collaborate with educational staff to cultivate a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is essential.
  • Prior experience in tutoring or teaching high school ELA.
  • Familiarity with the New York State ELA Regents examination.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to effectively work with high school students and adapt to their individual learning requirements.
