ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI), located in Watertown, MA, is seeking a dynamic and driven Marketing and Communications Intern to join our team. ALS TDI is a nonprofit biotech dedicated to ending ALS, and we're looking for an enthusiastic individual to help us raise awareness and support for our cause.

About ALS TDI: ALS TDI is committed to accelerating the discovery and development of effective treatments for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). We're seeking a Marketing and Communications Intern to collaborate with our passionate Marketing and Communications team, contributing to our mission to conquer ALS once and for all.

What You'll Do: As a Marketing and Communications Intern, you'll work closely with our Marketing and Communications team to create and share compelling content that drives awareness of ALS TDI's mission and fundraising efforts. Your tasks will include:

  • Researching and drafting engaging content for social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Crafting informative and engaging blog posts
  • Creating visual content using photo, video, and audio editing tools (experience is a plus)
  • Assisting with event support, both in preparation and on-site
  • Collaborating with various departments, including Development, Donations Processing, Events, and Lead Management/Donor communications
  • Updating and editing website content
  • Assisting with media outreach and public relations efforts
  • Supporting Salesforce projects for Lead Management
  • Participating in community events (some weeknights and weekends may be required)

What We're Looking For: We're searching for a talented individual who embodies the following qualities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer skills
  • Familiarity with photo, video, and audio editing tools (a plus)
  • Willingness to learn and adapt, including using tools like MailChimp, SproutSocial, Salesforce, and G4 Analytics
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Flexibility, promptness, and organizational skills
  • Enthusiastic and eager to contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • A strong commitment to customer service and community engagement
  • Interest in nonprofit organizations, public relations, marketing, communications, and operations management

Additional Information:

  • This internship offers a competitive hourly rate.
  • The role requires 20 hours per week, including one preferred in-office day.
  • Two weekend workdays are required to support fundraising events (September 8th and October 5th) and some weeknights for community events based on availability.
  • You'll have the opportunity to shadow senior staff, expanding your learning experience.
  • Collaboration is at the heart of our team, and you'll have the chance to work closely with writers and other departments, contributing to various aspects of our mission.
