Job Summary

The Grant Compliance Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring Milwaukee Habitat meets public grant compliance and accounting requirements.


Responsibilities

Compliance

  • Review contracts for potential concerns and highlight new requirements

  • Assist with organizing and convening grant launch meetings to document, assign, and share requirements for compliance with each internal department

  • Identify and document all compliance requirements, assigning requirements to internal departments

  • Follow up on compliance requirements, set deadlines, review deliverables, and provide follow up

  • Act as point of contact for funders regarding compliance requirements

  • Manage grant file document storage systems, ensuring applicable documents and correspondence are saved


Audit

  • Design and implement audit prep plans

  • Review files for completeness and facilitate collection of needed documents as part of audit preparation

  • Act as a resource and point of contact during audits for supplying needed documents


Accounting and Document Management

  • Create files and organize documents associated with each family / project location

  • Prepare and submit expense reimbursement requests according to contract terms

  • Assist with providing required grant updates and closeout reports to funders

  • Assist with grant close out procedures, including record retention plan


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in accounting or public grants


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Maintain knowledge of statutes, laws, and regulations related to housing and/or ability to learn to analyze, interpret, and understand contracts and federal, state, and other regulations

  • Experience creating and maintaining electronic file storage systems and workflow plans

  • Excellent accuracy, detail orientation, and thoroughness

  • Experience with computer programs including Excel and accounting systems

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Preferred – experience with public grants such as HOME and CDBG

  • Interest in the mission of Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity
