Position Summary

The Senior HR Generalist is responsible for a wide range of duties within this organization. The Senior HR Generalist will assist with recruitment, communicate with management at each mine to assess personnel needs and plan recruitment activities, and update HR Management of any changes that are taking place regarding employment at Black Mountain Sand.

The Senior HR Generalist will assist Talent Acquisition personnel, with a focus on interviewing candidates for employment with Black Mountain Sand and ensuring a smooth onboarding process.

The Senior HR Generalist will exemplify behaviors of high integrity, versatility, leading with an ownership mentality and using good judgment. The Senior HR Generalist will encourage teamwork and communicate transparently both up and down the organization. The position will report to the HR Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment and any other 401K related tasks.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. Including anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and certifications.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • May participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Attends and participates in new hire MSHA training classes to deliver steps on utilizing ADP, when possible.
  • Assists with the open enrollment process.
  • May need to assist with accounting tasks.
  • Manages organizational charts for all facilities.
  • Submit reports to both HR Director and VP of Human Resources.
  • Update employee status changes in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • At least 3 years in an administrative setting and to either have completed the SHRM certification or be in the process of completing.
  • Proficient in payroll software desired but not required
  • Payroll processing experience desired but not required
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to constantly and professionally administer procedures, policies and reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal abilities; organization and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and various technology programs to maintain records and reports for the facility.
  • Ability to work both tactically and strategically and to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively manage personnel located in remote areas with hands-on, solution-driven approach.
