Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cabling Technician for a temporary 4-day project. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and testing voice and data cables, specifically focusing on running, cutting, and terminating CAT6 cables, ensuring a seamless network setup.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Maintenance:
    • Install, terminate, and test CAT6 and fiber optic cables.
    • Route, cut, and secure CAT6 cables in the project environment.
    • Install cable supports, trays, and conduits as needed.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting:
    • Use testing equipment to ensure cable quality and integrity.
    • Diagnose and repair any cable faults or connectivity issues.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of cable routes and terminations.
    • Provide a report of installations and test results at project completion.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Follow all safety guidelines and protocols during installation.
    • Ensure work complies with industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in cabling installation and maintenance.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in running, cutting, and terminating CAT6 cables.
    • Experience with installing and terminating fiber optic cables.
    • Ability to use cabling tools and testing equipment.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., BICSI, CFOT) are a plus but not required.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Detail-oriented and accurate.
    • Ability to work independently and efficiently within a tight timeframe.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
    • Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
