Data Center Administrator (DCA)

Location: Richmond, VA

3rd Shift: 11PM-8AM


Position Overview: The Data Center Administrator (DCA) is responsible for ensuring the physical and environmental health of the data center. This role is crucial in maintaining the daily operations and infrastructure integrity of the data center. The DCA will provide onsite support, focusing on cabling installation, equipment management, and overall data center operations, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and company protocols.


Key Responsibilities:

Onsite Infrastructure Support:

  • Install, remove, test, and label fiber/copper structured cabling systems.
  • Rack and unrack equipment as needed.
  • Escort vendors and manage the installation or maintenance of infrastructure by third parties.
  • Maintain the physical and environmental health of the data center.


Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Attend conference calls and participate in daily audits.
  • Monitor and prioritize the service ticket system, ensuring timely resolution of tasks.
  • Document all Moves, Adds, and Changes and Critical Work Orders.
  • Prepare and submit written reports as required.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the data center leadership team.
  • Comply with security protocols for both the organization and the hosting facility.


Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of industry best practices related to fiber/copper structured cabling systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of hardware components and systems in IT/compute, telecom, network, storage, and security environments.
  • Experience working in an enterprise data center or similar critical systems environment.
  • Ability to monitor and control daily service ticket activity, prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Visio, etc.).
  • Above-average communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while occasionally delegating tasks to others, maintaining a high level of engagement with the leadership team.


Work Assignment / Location: This position is onsite at the assigned data center location in Richmond, VA (Sandston)
