About the Job:

Peak Energy is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Cell Process Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will combine a strong foundation in battery technology with expertise in process development to drive significant advancements in production efficiency and cost reduction.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new manufacturing processes for battery cells, using a fundamental understanding of batteries to develop new processes for step changes in production costs.
  • Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, yield, and quality. Implement optimized processes to enhance overall production performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cutting-edge technologies and methodologies into the production process. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to continually drive innovation.
  • Work on scaling laboratory processes to pilot and full production scales, ensuring robust and reproducible results.
  • Develop and implement rigorous quality control procedures to ensure the consistency and reliability of battery cell production.
  • Identify and resolve process-related issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production operations.
  • Maintain detailed records of process development activities, including experimental designs, results, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide training and support to production staff on new processes and technologies to ensure successful implementation and operation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in process development within the battery manufacturing industry or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of electrochemical systems and battery cell manufacturing processes. Proficiency in process simulation software and statistical analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to identify and address process inefficiencies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings to stakeholders.
  • High level of attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience launching cell products from conception through commercialization
  • Hands on experience developing Dry electrode processes.
  • Hands on experience developing fill, formation, and de-gassing processes.
  • Experience using six sigma methodologies in development and production environments
