Asphalt QC Entry Level Technician

The person in this role will provide field and plant testing services through sampling AC content, truck sampling, mix gradation, core sampling, volumetric testing, and other duties as required for hot-mix Asphalt.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions and Duties)
Abide by all Harrison Safety Requirements
- Develop and maintain relationships with DOT, Road Crew, and Engineering Firm Personnel.
- Assist in establishing Road Project Rolling Patterns to achieve specified density.
- In an acceptable manner, use the Core Drilling Machine to collect required Field Density Core Samples.
- Evaluate results from test data and advise changes as necessary to keep the process within specification limits and under control.
- Ensure accurate information is prepared and recorded
- Maintain all testing equipment in a satisfactory manner, as well as tracking of any required documentation for the equipment.
- Ensure equipment is safely transported to and from the jobsite.
- Follow the Quality Control Plans and guidelines as assigned.
- Licensures and certification maintained and obtained as needed.
- Willing to travel to and from jobsites as needed.
- Wiling to work weekends and nights as necessary.
- Willing to work as a team player to ensure projects are completed.
- Adhere to company attendance policy to ensure normal efficiency level is maintained for crew operation.
- Maintain professional, courteous manner with customers, co-workers, and public.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Ability to read, interpret and apply written and/or verbal instructions.
- Preferred, previous experience in related construction field.
Work Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
- Maintain a current Driver License and good driving record.
- Provide valid documentation for I-9.
- Present courteous and professional attitude to customers, supervisors, co-workers and the general public always.
- Report to job at the designated time.
- Willing to travel and work away from home as necessary.
- Willing to work weekends and nights as necessary.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Willing to work outdoors in both hot and cold extreme weather.
- Adherence to strict safety requirements and procedures as provided in company handbook.
- Willing to be a team player and assist supervisors and co-workers with other required duties.
- Always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas for operations and production as directed by MSHA and/or OSHA.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Physical Requirements
Below described physical demands must be met by an employee to successfully perform the job's essential functions.
- Work in dusty, hot locations.
- Work in extreme weather temperatures and adapt.
- Required motions: squatting may occupy a large portion of the day, walking, throwing, twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, lifting, pulling, hammering, kneeling, standing, reaching, rubbing surfaces and pushing.
- Able to repetitiously lift up to 50 pounds using proper techniques for lifting.
Work Environment
- Exposure to extreme weather both heat and cold.
