As a Environmental Health & Safety Specialist, you will:

 

  • Implement, manage and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements.
  • Perform job hazard analysis and ergonomic risk assessments and creating action plans to reduce risks
  • Perform incident investigations using an 8D (Disciplined) process, with the focus on root cause, corrective and preventive actions and verification.
  • Participates in investigation teams following incidents and helps to minimize recurrence, monitors implementation of corrective actions through implementation and completion.
  • Lead the safety committee, empowering the committee members to instill a behavior-based safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Assists EH&S Manager in administering tracking system (EHSIS) to document worker injuries
  • Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events
  • Provides or facilitates effective training for all safety programs including but not limited to fall protection, lockout / tagout, machine guarding, powered industrial vehicle, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, electrical safety, confined space, respiratory protection and walking and working surfaces.
  • Assists with emergency response situations that occur within the facility as needed.
  • Ability to be trained and act as a Company First Responder for cases of injury and other incidents.
  • Tours plant to identify and correct potential hazards; and to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Conducts inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions
  • Coordinates safety and first aid training to educate workers about safety policies, laws, and practices.
  • Conducts or coordinates industrial monitoring to include noise and air quality testing.
  • Assists EH&S / Sustainability Manager and Operations Management in coordination of Emergency Action Plan

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering or related field (e.g. Occupational Safety, Applied Safety, Safety Administration, Safety Management).
  • 1-3 years related safety experience in manufacturing
  • Ideal candidate must have the ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions as well as gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Must be able to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E-mail is required.
