Position Overview: As a Remote Publicist, you will play a crucial role in crafting and executing public relations strategies that generate positive media coverage for our clients. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, and other key media contacts, ensuring that our clients’ stories are told in a compelling and impactful way. This role offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to contribute from anywhere while being a key player in our PR team. Ideally, you are based in the Los Angeles area, as many of our clients and media contacts are located here, but we are open to candidates from other locations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, bloggers, influencers, and other media professionals across various industries.
  • Identify and target relevant media outlets and contacts for pitching client stories, ensuring that pitches are tailored to each outlet's audience and style.
  • Continuously monitor media landscapes to identify new opportunities for client exposure and ensure our strategies align with the latest trends.
  • Manage media inquiries, coordinate interviews, and provide clients with media training and support to ensure they are prepared for public appearances.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, building and maintaining strong, trusting relationships.
  • Understand each client’s unique brand, goals, and challenges to develop and execute tailored PR strategies that meet their objectives.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to clients, detailing the progress of PR campaigns, media coverage achieved, and ongoing opportunities for exposure.
  • Offer strategic counsel and crisis management support to clients when necessary, helping them navigate potential PR challenges.
  • Craft compelling press releases, media pitches, bylined articles, case studies, and other PR materials that effectively communicate client messages.
  • Develop and distribute press kits, media alerts, and other promotional materials as needed.
  • Work with clients to create and refine messaging that aligns with their brand and resonates with target audiences.
  • Collaborate with the social media team to ensure PR efforts are integrated with social media strategies, maximizing the impact of both.
  • Develop comprehensive PR campaigns that include media outreach, event planning, influencer partnerships, and other tactics designed to generate buzz and media coverage.
  • Plan and execute media events, press conferences, and product launches, ensuring all details are meticulously managed to create a seamless experience for media attendees.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of PR campaigns, using metrics such as media impressions, sentiment analysis, and client feedback to measure success and refine future strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry news, trends, and best practices to ensure that our PR strategies remain cutting-edge and effective.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities for client exposure, such as new media outlets, digital platforms, or industry events.
  • Provide thought leadership within the agency by sharing insights and recommendations based on your research and experience.
  • Work closely with other members of the PR team, including account managers, content creators, and social media specialists, to ensure that all client campaigns are cohesive and aligned with overall brand messaging.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and strategy workshops to contribute your ideas and expertise.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, sharing your knowledge and experience to help them develop their skills and succeed in their roles.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public relations, preferably within an agency setting or working with multiple clients across various industries.
  • Proven track record of securing media coverage across print, digital, and broadcast outlets, with a portfolio of successful placements.
  • Experience managing client relationships and executing PR campaigns from start to finish.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages that resonate with target audiences.
  • Strong media relations skills, including the ability to pitch stories effectively, manage media inquiries, and build lasting relationships with journalists.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, team members, and media contacts.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and addressing challenges.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with the media landscape, including key publications, blogs, influencers, and journalists relevant to our clients' industries.
  • Understanding of social media platforms and their role in PR, with the ability to integrate social media strategies into broader PR campaigns.
  • Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing best practices as they relate to PR, with an understanding of how to optimize content for search and online visibility.
  • Proficiency in PR and media monitoring tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater, Muck Rack) and CRM software.
  • Comfortable using digital communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Slack) and project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello) to collaborate with remote teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • Adaptable and open to change, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
