POSITION/TITLE: Activities Coordinator (Residential Care Facility)

WHO IS OUR IDEAL ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR

We are looking for an experienced, lively, and compassionate Activities Coordinator who will be able to provide our residents activity programs that will enrich the quality of their lives in our community, promote engagement, socialization, personal interests, ongoing education, maintenance and improvement of their physical abilities and skills everyday under the direction of our Executive Director. You will thrive in this role if you are a team-player, able to communicate well with the direct care staff, management and of course – senior residents that we serve in our community.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR

The responsibilities of the Activities Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicate with Executive Director and Resident Care Coordinator to better meet resident needs by considering socio-economic groups, personalities, life experience, and interests.

  • Complete initial and quarterly activity assessments for each resident & also monthly activities calendar and corresponding activities budgets.

  • Actively recruit residents to participate in activities with goal of increasing engagement.

  • Document resident participation in various activities by logging daily participation and engagement information (including non-participation).

  • Provide orientation, training and support to direct caregiver staff or volunteers as needed so they can assist/conduct activities with residents.

  • Coordinate the set up and clean up for activities and events. Keeps activities closets and Activity Room clean and organized.

  • Coordinate with other staff, volunteers, residents, families, providers, third-party vendors, or community resources to carry out planned activities.

  • Coordinate community events and celebrations (e.g. Holidays, Birthdays). Decorate common areas seasonally and for holidays.

  • Maintain social media accounts with regards to posting activities-related tasks.

  • Additional work responsibilities may include helping with general office and administrative duties. From time-to-time may be asked or scheduled to assist and cover direct caregiver duties.

YOUR SCHEDULE

This position is a Full-time, Hourly/non-exempt position, with workdays from Mondays – Fridays. Normal business hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with the understanding that hours may vary dependent upon workload, Management, and resident needs. Must be able to be on-call, including during inclement weather, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The position requires a hands-on professional and have the following qualifications:

  • High School Graduates (required) with some college courses preferred.

  • Have a health care, social, group or senior services or long-term care background.

  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in Activities, events planning or similar position.

  • Driving required – must have and maintain a valid driver’s license for three or more years with no more than one moving violation, proof of automobile liability insurance when driving personal vehicle.

  • Working knowledge of basic office technology and software (MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn clinical electronic health records.

  • Must meet all health requirements and pass mandatory background check.

All new staff hired after June 30th, 2021 must provide acceptable evidence of vaccination or become vaccinated for COVID-19 immediately upon hire as a condition of employment.
