The Accountant III ensures accurate financial reporting by preparing and analyzing transactions, journal entries, and reports. Key duties include account reconciliations, variance analysis, managing invoicing and collections, and overseeing cash receipts. The role involves creating financial tools, enhancing accounting methods, improving processes, and establishing internal controls. The Accountant III collaborates with other departments, trains and mentors staff, and supports special projects to achieve organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and analyzes transactions, journal entries, and other financial data or reports on a regular basis, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Conducts account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts, investigates variances, performs detailed analyses, and prepares corrective recommendations as needed. Additionally, compiles various financial schedules for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Develops and maintains robust systems for invoicing and collections to ensure adequate financial controls and proper revenue recognition. Oversees cash receipts and the collections process, ensuring efficient and accurate cash management.
  • Creates and maintains analytical financial tools to support business functions and recommends enhancements to existing accounting methods and procedures. Develops, implements, modifies, and documents comprehensive accounting processes, while establishing and maintaining effective internal control policies and related procedures.
  • Leads initiatives to streamline and improve accounting processes, enhancing overall efficiency. Trains and mentors staff members, performing preliminary reviews of their work during training to ensure accuracy and completeness. Develops and delegates tasks to accounting staff, fostering their professional growth.
  • Collaborates with other departments to improve processes, procedures, and reporting, benefiting the overall financial reporting structure of the company. Undertakes special projects to support the evolving needs of the organization, contributing to its strategic goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 8 years of related experience and an Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Prior experience with general ledger – creating journal entries and completing various types of account reconciliations.
  • Experience with customer invoicing and collections.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

  • Strong analytical skills to define problem areas and draw logical conclusions.
  • Experience in developing and documenting accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel with the ability to create formulas and other relevant financial analysis tools, such as Oracle EBS.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with other departments.
  • Capability to delegate tasks effectively and review staff work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Skills in supporting and executing special projects to meet organizational needs.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
