ROLE
The Construction Specialist (Seasonal) position is a full-time, temporary position performing general inspection duties on-site during the summer months.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handles routine matters of relatively small impact in projects that are not overly complex.
- Performs various contract administration functions including communicating with Ackerman-Estvold staff, contractors, agencies, etc.
- Review permit applications for rule compliance.
- Assist Civil Engineers with plan specifications and estimates.
- Relies on pre-established guidelines and instructions to perform the functions of the job.
- Has basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
- With guidance from other inspectors, can satisfactorily inspect different construction disciplines.

Municipal Infrastructure; Land and Site Development Projects; Grading Projects; Water Distribution Systems; Sanitary Sewer Systems; Storm Sewer Systems; Roadway Improvements; Sidewalks & Shared-Use Paths; Small Pumping Facilities; Small Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities
Physical Demands
- Requires frequent walking and standing, climbing, stooping, pulling, reaching, bending.
- Good eyesight, hearing, and speech.
- Regular driving of vehicle and operating equipment.
- Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
Candidate must be able to perform the essential function of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment
This position require work that is outside in various weather conditions for long periods of time as well as exposure to construction and water/wastewater site hazards, traffic, and moving machinery during daily work.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
- 2+ years of experience in construction preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Suite programs (Office, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Technical skills in Autodesk Civil 3D preferred
A BIT MORE INFORMATION
Location
This position is based in our Williston, ND office; however, travel to other areas may arise depending on the projects.
Schedule
This is a seasonal position, with the expected period of work to be from March until October or November, depending on the first snow. This position is a temporary/seasonal role with full-time hours of 40+ per week. Some overtime may be required.
Pay Information
The pay range is $25-30 per hour, with 1.5x rate for all overtime hours performed.
