Position Summary

The Sr. Marketing Representative works with minimal supervision on a broad range of marketing functions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, securing and managing markets for the sale of gas, NGLS and/or crude that optimize revenue and minimize risk to SM, negotiating new contracts or modifying existing contracts for the midstream services and product disposition, and calculating pricing and transportation differentials for a variety of corporate functions. May be responsible for monitoring marketing fundamentals and providing reports to the leadership within the department and others within the company.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

• Evaluates economics of complex deals

• Identifies, evaluates and compares market alternatives for gas, NGLs and/or crude

• Reviews, analyzes and monitors existing mid-stream contracts (gathering, processing, treating and transportation)

• Negotiates new gathering, processing, transportation and sales contracts

• Manages and administers existing contracts and builds relationships with buyers and service providers

• Calculates and provides to Revenue Accounting monthly revenue accrual pricing and transportation estimates

• Monitors drilling activity and ensure that wells are connected in a timely manner

• Reviews gathering and processing invoices for accuracy

• Prepares executive level reports and presentations

• Monitors commodity market fundamentals including supply and demand trends and implications on forward pricing

• Performs acquisition/divestiture (BD) evaluations and due diligence

• Prepares production and pricing forecasts and other market analyses

• Calculates quarterly price and transportation differentials for corporate reserve valuations, corporate call economics and regional budget preparation

• Demonstrates thorough understanding of gas processing economics, including NGL shrink and yield analysis

• Works closely with regional personnel and external counterparties

• Conducts business safely and with the highest ethical standards

• Other duties as assigned

Role Specific Technical Knowledge & Skills

Demonstrates an advanced understanding of sales transactions and economics. Is experienced in analyzing complex oil and gas midstream deals and competent in knowledge of contract provisions. Possesses advanced negotiation skills. Possesses critical thinking skills and pays attention to detail with the initiative to investigate, analyze and resolve problems. Is able to perform detailed analyses and calculations; draw valid conclusions.

Computer/Software Applications

Advanced in level of skill and familiarity with Microsoft Office. Advanced in the knowledge of company specific software and related applications including AVM and other proprietary systems.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or relevant field required. MBA or energy-related Master's Degree preferred.

Work Location/Environment

Denver/Hybrid (in office Tues, Weds, Thurs). Moderate travel.

Typical Experience

Minimum of 8 years of Oil and Gas industry experience. Commercial/Marketing experience highly preferred.
