CAA is a private, nonprofit organization that offers various services to low- and moderate-income families Among these services and programs, we offer job training, housing assistance, heating assistance, Head Start and Early Head Start, and entrepreneurial coaching.

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Community Services will partner with the CEO and fellow members of the senior leadership team to identify, design, and implement cutting-edge anti-poverty solutions for low-income families and the surrounding community.

The Community Services Department provides supportive services to clients looking for help with rent and utilities, and serves clients by providing career guidance and training, leading towards a sustainable future. The VP of Community Services is directly responsible for leading a team in the development, management, and quality improvement activities of all community services programs, as well as the development, timely submission, and efficient operations of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) and the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) grant, along with other grant programs. This position ensures compliance with all policies, rules and regulations of grants. The VP identifies and builds solid relationships with key partners and serves as the key representative of CAA’s supportive services programs in the community.

As a member of the senior leadership team, the VP of Community Services serves as a role model for the agency’s core values, which include passion four our work, collaboration within and outside of our organization, compassion for others, strategic thinking, and continuous Improvement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Program Leadership

  • Direct and execute the planning process for the future development and growth of Community Services programs.
  • Expand existing programs while developing new initiatives that fit within the mission of CAA and serve the needs of families in our community.
  • Maintain knowledge of national, regional, and local developments and trends influencing program operations, and facilitate organizational adaptive changes as needed.
  • Establish full organizational alignment of community service programs across the agency.
  • Monitor and maintain a high standard of client service.
  • Provide seamless coordination and integration of programs to allow flexibility to respond to the changing needs of clients and the community.
  • Oversee program compliance with agency, licensure, funding sources and accreditation regulations, standards, polices, and procedures.
  • Lead the design, development, and timely submission of the departments’ core grant proposals.
  • Assure that all local, state, and federal reports are submitted on time with complete documentation.
  • Assure that programs are effectively integrated with and supply support to other CAA programs.
  • Secure additional funding to support agency programming.
  • Utilize program evaluation methodology, and financial data to monitor service and financial goals, and adjust service delivery as needed.
  • Lead the development, monitoring and achievement of service and financial targets.

Community Partnership

  • Develop and maintain community support and relationships with social service organizations, government agencies, elected officials, etc.
  • Appear before legislative committees and elected officials to speak on CAA's behalf.
  • Promote CAA by participating in community activities, initiatives, and remaining current on poverty-related issues.

People Leadership

  • Oversee the hiring, onboarding, training and development of Community Services team members.
  • Establish performance expectations and provide regular feedback and coaching to direct reports.
  • Foster and encourage teamwork and communication.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent must have:

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Five years management experience.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of low-income people.
  4. Experience supervising, coaching and mentoring.
  5. Ten plus years’ experience in non-profit, human services, or business field.
  6. Experience managing multiple programs.
  7. Ability to develop and implement innovative programs.
  8. Ability to relate to and work with diverse populations.
  9. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  10. Strong interpersonal skills.
  11. Must have valid driver's license, reliable transportation and maintain current automobile insurance.
  12. Ability to work non-standard hours.
  13. Ability to travel outside home area for up to a week at a time.
