We're looking for someone to join our team as a Controller who:

The Controller is responsible for the timely production of financial statements and related supplementary information in conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Controller is responsible for coordinating the annual single audit, and other financial statement, regulatory, grant and contract report submissions, audits, and reviews. The Controller is responsible for the timely production and submission of grants and contract claims, invoices, and draws. The Controller is responsible for all functions related to month-end and year-end general ledger account entries, adjustments, and reconciliations. The Controller is responsible for daily maintenance of the general ledger, sub-ledgers, supporting schedules, and related documentation, and the design, implementation, monitoring, oversight, and performance of accounting functions. The Controller ensures financial controls and accounting processes are effective and efficient. The Controller selects, onboards, trains, coaches, and develops accounting and finance staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, maintains, and monitors financial and accounting processes and controls to provide for the effective and efficient safekeeping of corporate resources.
  • Maintains the functionality, effectiveness and efficiency of financial software systems, policy, procedures.
  • Selects, onboards, trains, coaches, and develops accounting and finance staff.
  • Assigns, reviews, monitors, and assesses the work of accounting and finance staff.
  • Analyzes and authorizes cash receipts and transfers in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Analyzes and authorizes expenditures and disbursements in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors banking, merchant card, and purchasing card accounts in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Ensures cash, investment, receivables, capital, payables, and liabilities account schedules and records are accurately maintained.
  • Develops and prepares detailed financial statements, reports, and supplementary information.
  • Works with department, program, and functional leaders to accumulate, analyze, report, and submit data for internal management and decision making, and external applications, claims, audits, and tax and regulatory reporting.
  • Ensures all external applications, claims, audits, reviews, and tax and regulatory reporting are timely completed.
  • Serves as the primary contact for financial audits and reviews, and coordinates documentation for external auditors and reviewers.
  • Coordinates and monitors continuous improvement activities related to essential functions.

You'll be successful with the following Qualifications:

  • At least eighteen years of age.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Five years professional level accounting experience with Essential Functions.
  • Three years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of governmental and grant reporting requirements.
  • Ability to establish and maintain fiscal records and procedures.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive financial reports.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to inspire, lead and develop staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Must adhere to Clinica Sierra Vista’s employee health/immunization requirements or provide a valid exemption request for subsequent approval.
