The Municipal Planning and Transportation Group at AKRF is seeking a Director of Infrastructure to lead the design and management of public roadway and infrastructure projects for our CT practice. The position is based in our Stamford, CT serving our broad range of municipal and state clients. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of the region.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the team by providing design management, program management, project management and construction management knowledge and acumen to ensure projects and programs are completed on time, on budget, and to specifications, managing all aspects of the project.
  • Work collaboratively to develop and introduce new ideas and innovations to deliver projects.
  • Support ongoing business development and growth initiatives, continuing to grow our CT practice.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with clients, agencies, and teaming partners.
  • Recruit and onboard new staff.
  • Assist with tracking group financial performance, forecasting workload, and assessing performance metrics.
  • Manage local staff and assist with career development, hiring, staff retention, and workload planning.
  • Oversee the design and production of plans, specifications, quantities, estimates and other deliverables for roadway, stormwater, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Lead/Support teams in the marketing, pursuit, and proposal phases of infrastructure projects.
  • Motivate staff and colleagues to create a positive workplace culture; assumes responsibility and acts decisively; focuses on finding solutions; mentors and provides helpful feedback to staff; recognizes and fosters talent; endeavors to collaborate across organizational lines to increase sharing of technical expertise, best practices and resources.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • 15+ years of experience.
  • CT PE required;
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and overseeing project delivery of junior to mid-level staff.
  • Experience with delivering design projects for the Connecticut Department of Transportation is essential.
  • Extensive experience with infrastructure design projects that involve roadway, utility coordination and relocation, water, sewer, stormwater management, and maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT)/construction staging.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to manage both technical and financial elements of a project.

Compensation will range from $175K to $210K, and commensurate with experience.
