POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Purchasing Manager processes purchase requisitions and negotiates, orders, purchases, and receives materials in accordance with purchasing guidelines. This position is responsible for verifying bids, invoices, and purchase orders for accuracy, in addition to assisting in maintaining inventory accuracy, implementing purchasing process improvements and cost reduction initiatives and for compiling management reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and pricing.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory, and supplier performance. Generate reports to support decision-making
  • Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtain multiple quotes when needed for comparison, obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from management as needed, sourcing new vendors as required.
  • Track ordering and delivery of items purchase.
  • Resolve receiving and price discrepancies with vendors
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize sourcing, purchasing and supplier management process.
  • Provide purchasing planning information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing trends
  • Analyze procurement spend and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Implement cost control measures and track the effectiveness of cost-saving initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree or Higher preferred
  • Three or more years’ of purchasing experience in manufacturing, logistics, or related industries

  • Up to 10%

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently required to sit, walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, speak and hear.
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
