The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is looking for Patrol Deputies to join our ranks  We are a very progressive law enforcement agency that promotes a Community Policing philosophy.  This position is 40 hours per week with a full benefits package. Pay is commensurate with experience and starts at $29.50/hr.  Stipends and shift differentials are available, and for blue pins / academy certified officers we provide up to 15 YEARS in lateral credit for pay and time off as well as a $6,000 sign on bonus Please note, applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Our dedicated and elite Patrol Deputies:

  • Prevent crime by explaining and enforcing applicable federal, state, county, and local laws and ordinances; teaching preventative, protective, and defensive tactics; mediating disputes; patrolling assigned area; responding to notices of disturbances; conducting searches; observing suspicious activities; detaining suspects.
  • Apprehend suspects by responding to complaints and calls for help; observing violations; making arrests.
  • Conduct criminal investigations by gathering evidence; interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects.

To join us in protecting and serving the citizens and visitors of towns in Cumberland County you must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age or 20 years of age with 60 college credits;
  • Hold a HS Diploma or equivalent;
  • Hold a valid Maine Driver’s License;
  • Reside in the State of Maine and not more than 15 miles outside the Cumberland County border.
