Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fish and Wildlife Technician to join our team at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. As a Fish and Wildlife Technician, you will play a critical role in protecting and enhancing Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue daily permits to hunters, check hunter bag and identify sex, age, species of harvested waterfowl, records hunter data
  • Answer public information requests in person and by phone
  • Patrol Wildlife Area for Fee Hunt Compliance, inform OSP or Columbia Co. Deputy of violations, and provide detailed information
  • Maintain Fee Hunt records, correlate hunter records into summarized data, and complete the final Fee Hunt Report
  • Coordinate the transport and release of pheasants for Western Oregon Fee Pheasant Hunt

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently required to work outside during inclement weather, long hours, before sunrise and after sunset, on weekends, and irregular (flexible) work schedules
  • Requires lifting heavy objects of 50 pounds (or more with assistance if/when necessary)
  • Dealing with the public, local residents, and other agency personnel are frequent and a well-developed sense of diplomacy is necessary

Requirements:

  • Applicants are subject to both a criminal history and motor vehicles check
  • Driving is required for all positions
  • Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current certified or uncertified driving record for review to be considered for the position
