POSITION SUMMARY:

VP, Program Services is responsible for providing thoughtful leadership, direction and oversight to Clubs, program quality, and partnership development. Oversee program model planning, implementation, compliance and evaluation throughout all clubs and school-based sites throughout BGCGA. Supervise service delivery in all Clubs, including direct supervision of all Club Directors. In collaboration with other senior leaders, plan and implement training for all program staff. With Club Directors, develop and maintain community collaborations and relations, budget development and management, crisis preparedness, safety, and membership recruitment and retention goals.

KEY ROLES & ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with Programs & Operations Team to develop, communicate, and implement organization's operational policies and procedures; monitors same for compliance.
  • Assists in determining optimum number, model, and placement of Clubs; recommends and helps implement changes supported by analysis of resources and demographics.
  • Assists with membership development of optimal and daily average attendance targets and plans and executes strategies to achieve targets.
  • Assists members of Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for key aspects of the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Collaborates to develop, monitor, and improve program delivery and operational excellence in Clubs.
  • Commits to data-driven decision-making with a focus on Optimal Club Experience and Optimal Staff Experience.
  • Manages Regional Directors who oversee County Board management.
  • Collaborates with Executive VP, Finance & Operations to develop and execute strategies to meet budget targets.
  • Works with Regional Directors to analyze Club operational needs and develop budgets to support those needs.
  • Collaborates with Resource Development and Marketing & Communications to develop grant proposals and obtain and report on outcomes.
  • Participates in activities to maintain good public relations for Club programs, services, and activities.
  • Consistently collaborates with Marketing & Communications to ensure Club services and policies are accurate and up to date on all marketing collateral.
  • Works with Programs & Operation’s administrative processes and ensures that administrative data, from the Clubs to Senior Leadership is accurate and timely, as well as follows organizational administrative policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for Boys & Girls Clubs of America by participating in meetings and training, to provide regular updates.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the program team for successful execution of annual program goals and tracking of desired outcomes.
  • Develop and implement annual membership recruitment and retention plans for all BGCGA Club sites.
  • Assist with the management and effective utilization of volunteers and community advisory groups, consistent with organization policies.
  • Manage financial resources by working with CEO, VP of Finance, and Club Directors to develop annual club budgets and control of Club expenditures.
  • Assist Club Directors in effective management of staff performance and coaching. Also, assist staff in effective management of child, and/or parent disciplinary matters.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with caregivers, public and civic groups, school system administrators, school board members, social agencies, and local governments.
  • Represent the organization and interpret club objectives and programs for the community at large.
  • Provide reports and analysis to support the fund raising, grant, and other compliance requirements and other reports or data collection required of Clubs.
  • Support staff with the development of partnerships, programs, and activities with parents and Club families via regular meetings and performance check-ins with direct reports.
  • Follow and uphold Club Code of Ethics and Club Values: Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
  • Team management, team performance, team check-ins, team coaching, responsible for developing a space for creativity, inclusion, and culture of learning within team.
  • Support hiring, managing, supervising, and effective performance of all youth-facing staff.
  • Support professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • Establish and maintain program goals. Ensure the continual evaluation of Club programs and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment (physical and emotional), ensures optimal function of programming spaces, programming equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with evaluation and implementation of club processes, programs, and systems for continuous quality improvement (CQI).
  • Support program evaluation and outcomes measurement efforts.
  • Assist in the development of annual programs and organizational planning.
  • Ensures grant requirements are met and implemented via programming throughout the year.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with the Executive VP, Finance & Operations, and other members of executive leadership.
  • External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents, and organizations.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, master's degree preferred.

Experience

  • Preferred five or more years’ work experience with youth development leadership experience where operations consist of multiple locations, budget oversight, team development, fundraising, and board management,

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations; personnel supervision, budget development, and management.
  • Ability to set a vision for excellence across multiple Club locations and develop a training, support, and accountability structure to ensure the successful implementation if that vision.
  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, procedures, principles, and practices of non-profit organizations and youth development services.
  • Leadership development includes managing a large team.
  • Ability to manage and implement multiple projects and programs and develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • Excellent human relations skills and ability to motivate staff and board.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.
  • Advanced understanding of basic office applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.)

ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in our Program Services Center-Administrative offices. Travel between BGCGA Branches, schools and community sites is required
