JOB DESCRIPTION: Safety Specialist (DOT/Trucking experience & FMCSA knowledge is required)

  • Conduct and coordinate new driver orientation classes
  • Assist in recruiting qualified Owner Operators and Company Drivers
  • Accept applications and interview driver applicants (pre-qualify)
  • Send out (fax) VOPE’s for new driver applicants
  • Communicate with Application Auditor to get driver applicants qualified
  • Communicate and report applicant and new hire information to IMCC
  • Conduct and/or coordinate CMV road tests for new drivers
  • Monitor drivers’ hours of service compliance:
  1. Educate drivers on proper use of ELD equipment
  2. Assign UVA and education drivers how to use tablets to avoid UVA
  3. Address HOS violations same day
  4. Watch for tampering/ disconnecting ELD equipment
  5. Work the Distance Discrepancy report weekly
  • Responsible for keeping inventory of ELD equipment and ordering new equipment as needed
  • Assist with all aspects of safety compliance including
  1. Monthly Maintenance reports
  2. Expiring documents
  3. Random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug testing
  • Employee first report of injury contact for the division
  • Responsible for ongoing and corrective action driver instruction
  • Respond to and investigate local IMC and report to Risk Mgmt. services
  • Receive and process (notify drivers) IMC random drug/alcohol test notices
  • Assist with Driver Safety Awards Presentations

JOB REQUIREMNTS:

  • Ability to conduct CMV driver safety and operations instruction and training
  • Good knowledge of FMCSR required
  • Good understanding of FMCSR part 395 – Hours of Service of Drivers
  • Ability and desire to promote IMC to potential CMV drivers
  • Knowledge and understanding of truck maintenance and repair.
  • Occasional travel to Corporate offices (Memphis, TN) & Region locations
