THE ROLE: The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Assist in weekly check mailings (seal and deliver weekly checks to Fed Ex, UPS, USPS, or appropriate mail courier)
  • May include processing checks.
  • May include maintaining positive pay files and monitoring exceptions.
  • Accounts payable postings
  • Open and sort invoices that come in via mail.
  • Print accounts payable invoices and vendor statements
  • Recording and tracking lien releases.
  • Processing of AMEX and monthly reconciliation.
  • Research and resolve AP issues (reconcile vendor statements, vendor inquiries, etc.)
  • Maintain vendor information and filing annual 1099s ensuring tax info is current.
  • Maintain efficient and consistent system for filing payment support and vendor paperwork.
  • Assist the Accounting Department to complete special projects and daily tasks as needed.
  • Be the point of contact for a division (handling all inbox inquiries and all related aspects of their accounts payable needs)
  • May include vendor setup processing.
  • Assist in audit selection requests.
  • Month-end reconciliation of AP aging reports.
  • Research and reconciliation of stale dated checks.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • 3-5 years accounting/bookkeeping experience – preferably A/P specific experience
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • College degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

WHAT WILL SET YOU A PART:

  • Organized, multi-tasker, very good communicator, quick learner, proactive, problem-solver.
  • Technology savvy with experience working in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook; Salesforce.com and Dynamics 365 experience is a plus.
  • Experience with project accounting and applying invoices to cost codes.

The compensation range for this role is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
