Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Leave of Absence Specialist with at least 4 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of federal and state leave laws, regulations, and policies. They will be responsible for managing all aspects of employee leave, including FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave laws, and company-specific policies. The Leave of Absence Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave-related inquiries and will work closely with HR, legal, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective management of leave programs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Communication and Support: Serve as the main point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave-related questions, concerns, and accommodations. Provide guidance and support throughout the leave process.
2. Leave Administration: Manage the entire leave of absence process, including intake, eligibility determination, documentation review, approval/denial, tracking, and monitoring of leave usage.
3. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all leave requests, approvals, and communications. Ensure all documentation meets legal and regulatory requirements.
4. Coordination: Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Benefits, Payroll, and other relevant departments to coordinate leave management efforts and ensure seamless integration with other HR processes.
5. New Employee Benefits Orientation: Deliver benefit information to newly hired employees to educate them on U.S. benefits.
6. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve leave administration processes, systems, and tools. Make recommendations for policy updates or changes based on emerging trends or regulatory updates.
7. Compliance: Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local leave laws and regulations to ensure company policies and practices remain compliant. Interpret and apply complex leave laws to specific situations.
8. Tuition Reimbursement Program Administration: Answer employee and manager questions related to tuition reimbursement. Administer the tuition reimbursement program including determining employee eligibility, reviewing supporting documentation provided by employee, and submitting request for reimbursement to the payroll department.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent employee benefit administration experience required.
· At least 4 years of experience in leave administration, preferably in a large corporate environment.
· In-depth knowledge of federal and state leave laws, including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific regulations.
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex policies and regulations.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
· Proficiency in leave management software and MS Office Suite.
***Pay rate is commensurate with experience. Target pay rate range is $30-50/hr***
