JOB DESCRIPTION: CRISIS RESPONSE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (FULL-TIME)

Classification: Full-time, exempt Reports to: Crisis Response Director

This position operates as an essential employee. All members of Harford Crisis Response (HCR) are the frontline, first response workers for behavioral health in Harford County. The Crisis Response Assistant Director shall be independently licensed to practice therapy in the state of Maryland (LCSW-C, LCPC, equivalent or greater).

The Harford Crisis Response Assistant Director provides oversight of day-to-day service delivery for HCR ensuring timely and effective responses to all people in Harford County experiencing behavioral health crises. The HCR Assistant Director is responsible for promoting a positive work culture including leading efforts related to diversity and inclusion in the workspace. The HCR Assistant Director acts as the Crisis Response Director’s Designee in their absence.

Requires valid driver’s license/ability to operate agency vehicles.

There are potential risks to crisis response work including but not limited to:

  • Entry into environments with poor sanitation standards
  • Entry into environments with insect or rodent infestations
  • Exposure to people displaying volatile, unpredictable, or aggressive behavior, and/or to highly charged emotional situations
  • Exposure to weather conditions including snow, rain, and heat
  • Exposure to persons with infectious diseases

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct supervision for HCR staff including clinical, administrative, and performance reviews; oversees personnel disciplinary concerns
  • Participates in hiring and onboarding including selection and training
  • Participates in regular meetings with the Supervisory and Leadership Teams
  • Assists in outreach and education efforts related to HCR including participating in partner meetings, resource fairs, and external trainings, as assigned
  • Assists with CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement)
  • Assists in compiling, analyzing, and reporting out on data according to grant and CQI metrics
  • Assists in developing and implementing policies according to established standards of care
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with agency staff to fully utilize available resources
  • Assists with recruitment, hiring, training, and staff development
  • Oversees organizational cultural competency, inclusion, and diversity initiatives
  • Assists in identifying and applying for grants
  • Provides day to day oversight of the crisis response services ensuring timely and effective care
  • Provides day to day oversight of crisis response scheduling and coverage needs
  • When direct care and supervisory team is not available due to absence or call and dispatch volume, answers hotline calls and completes crisis dispatches.
  • Provides regular reports to the Crisis Response Director
  • Acts as the Crisis Response Director’s designee in their absence or as assigned
  • Provides coverage in the afterhours supervisory rotation
  • Completes training as assigned by HCR and as needed to maintain clinical licensure
  • Monitors and signs off on employee timekeeping and bonus pay
  • Adheres to policies HCR policies and procedures
  • Provides Holiday coverage, as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Independently Licensed to Practice Psychotherapy in Maryland (LCSW-C, LCPC, PsyD, PhD, equivalent or greater)
  • State of Maryland Board Approved Supervisor or eligible within 1 year (preferred)
  • At least five years’ experience as a practitioner in social work, mental health, or related fields
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience in related fields
  • Experience and/or Education related to leading Diversity, Inclusion, and Cultural Competency Efforts
  • Intermediate skills in working in Microsoft Office-particularly Excel and Power Point, along with other electronic reporting databases and dashboards
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective and professional relationships with clients and other members of a care team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required
  • Afterhours on call rotation (with additional compensation)
