Certified Peer Recovery Specialist

Primary Responsibilities. Provide high-quality, trauma-centered care and peer recovery supports to clients. Participates in clinical team meetings to advise on client issues and collaborate care. Participates in community outreach and community-based peer programs.
Job Description, Roles and Responsibilities, Core Tasks.
- Provide peer recovery support services and advocacy to/with/for clients.
- Meet with clinical staff and other treatment team members to support clients by providing input into developing a recovery plan and determining the steps to reduce barriers to recovery and their recovery goals.
- Completion of peer support documentation, weekly, and monthly forms, i.e. DLA-20
- Discuss the recovery plan with clients in recovery and their families.
- Determine recovery support needs and refer individuals and families to the appropriate community resources.
- Assist individuals in crisis management and coping strategies.
- Function as a mentor and role model to clients based on shared lived experience.
- Assist clients in developing empowerment skills and combatting stigma through self-advocacy.
- Provide recovery education to clients for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance.
- Document within required guidelines all contacts with individuals.
- Develop, implement, and promote ongoing community training opportunities.
- Facilitate weekly peer support groups that promote self-advocacy and allow patients a voice and a forum in which they can express their point of view, share experiences, and communicate their preferences.
- Calls to patients when they are a no show to scheduled clinical services to foster re-engagement.
- Assist in linking patients to community recovery resources.
- Develop, recruit, and facilitate recovery affinity groups, in consultation and direction of Director of Peer Support Programs.
- Collaborate with the program’s leadership, providers, and support staff to develop a culture where client’s point of view and experiences are respected and understood.
- Maintain strong ethical and professional boundaries.
- Collaborate effectively with the treatment team to ensure holistic care.
- Attendance and participation at: (1) Weekly Operations Meeting, (2) Peer support meetings, (3) all other meetings as indicated by Director of Peer Support, Chief of Staff, and/or OAH Executive Leadership.
- Completion of all progress notes within a twenty-four (24) hour period from the date of service.
- Submission of Peer Billing Logs weekly by Friday at 5 pm.
- Other duties as directed.
