Position Summary:
Prepare plats, record boundary and easement maps. Oversees the compilation, update and maintenance of property maps. Analyzes and writes legal descriptions; performs record map and document research.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Perform duties in a timely manner keeping in mind the expectations and schedule of the project to ensure milestone dates are met and the project is not negatively impacted.
- Work with mapping and GIS department to receive deed plots of designated routes.
- Gather all current title work from right of way for the preparation of certified plats.
- Set deed plots and delineate the necessary boundaries after receiving data from master drawings.
- Instruct crews when insufficient or lack of field data is gathered.
- Originate, sign and seal property documents
- Travel to the field and search, review or look at the tract in question if deemed necessary.
- Provide mapping and drafting and technician support
- Plan, write and execute a GPS control network and report anywhere from 50 miles to 1000 miles or more on linear projects
- Provide input on survey processes and procedures.
Complexity, Decision-Making, Problem-Solving & Nature of Impact (i.e., Scope):
- Must be self-starter with excellent problem solving skills
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in AutoCAD software
- Ability to become familiar and proficient with ARC GIS
- Experience with Trimble surveying products, including GPS systems and robotic total stations
Management Responsibilities:
- None
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications):
- Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) Certificate required
- Working towards obtaining a Professional Land Surveyor License
- Bachelors Degree in related discipline preferred
- Experience preparing legal descriptions, filing plats, recording surveys, and preparing easements
- Experience collecting survey data to support engineering design projects
- Oil and Gas pipeline survey experience preferred
- Valid driver's license with insurable driving record required
Environment/Working Conditions:
- Office conditions with some travel to the field
Other Considerations/Requirements:
- Ability to lift or move equipment/materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work for extended periods at a computer workstation
- Ability to kneel, crouch and reach
- Occasional climbing may be needed
- Ability to walk on rocky, uneven surfaces
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time

- Reports to Registered Professional Surveyor
