Surveyor Trainee

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking a highly skilled Surveyor in Training to join our team. As a Surveyor in Training, you will work directly with our Registered Professional Land Surveyor (R.P.L.S.) to prepare and complete various survey projects throughout Texas.

• Provide technical support for assigned projects, utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
• Complete detailed drawings from field survey data, sketches, plans, specifications, and written or verbal instructions using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Review work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting to RPLS for review.
• Prepare drawings and/or copies existing drawings and complete simple calculations with specific instructions.
• Conduct field work upon request.
• Assist with deed research and abstract deeds, create base maps for field crews, process field crew data, and produce final drawings.
• Process acquired field data into a neat and accurate plat of survey and/or Metes and Bounds description.

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of MicroStation a plus.
• Ability to analyze survey data and direct field crew as needed.
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Flexibility to change priorities on job tasks and/or project deadlines, as needed.
• Ability to handle basic issues and problems identify when more complex issues need to be referred to higher level staff.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees in the organization, both verbally and written.
• Must be dependable and reliable.
