Science is the key to BRC’s approach, and our purpose is to champion integrity and objectivity in the expert industry while also making BRC the best place we have ever worked.
As a BRC Engineering Field Technician, you will be trained to safely and expertly conduct site and vehicle inspections around the country. The inspection training will include photography, 3D laser scanning, EDR (black-box) downloads, and aerial photography via drone. Some disassembly of vehicle components may be required. The person in this position will also participate in inspections, crash tests, and demonstration events held in our San Antonio facilities.
If you are mechanically inclined, have accident investigation experience, and would like to become an integral part of a forensic engineering team, this may be the job for you.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts vehicle inspections and inspections of incident sites.
- Travel as needed to complete 3D scanning of vehicles and sites.
- Travel as needed to complete EDR and heavy equipment downloads.
- Process 3D scans.
- Perform video and/or photogrammetric analysis.
- Create animations with FARO reality software.
- Document with digital cameras, scanners, and drones.
Required Education and Experience:
- Background or knowledge of automotive-related topics.
- Knowledgeable in the use of personal computers for technical analysis and computations with application software.
- Proficient knowledge of vehicles and their components.
- Proficient with CAD programs including AutoCAD and/or Rhino.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in engineering technology, automotive maintenance, or a related field or five years or more experience in engineering or a related technical field.
- Computer programming ability and use of computer-aided design software.
- Familiar with accident reconstruction and animation software such as EDCRASH and ARAS360.
