Job Summary: The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for managing the procurement processes to ensure that high-quality materials and supplies are purchased at competitive prices. The ideal candidate will collaborate with various departments, maintain vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor inventory levels to support manufacturing operations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Analyze procurement needs and inventory levels to place timely orders and manage stock levels effectively.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to achieve cost savings and ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Monitor market trends, product innovations, and industry standards to stay informed about changes that may impact purchasing strategy.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure materials meet specifications and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, including contracts, invoices, and supply agreements.
  • Conduct regular assessments of supplier performance, quality, and compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Assist in developing and implementing purchasing policies and procedures to improve overall procurement efficiency.
  • Support budget management and cost analysis efforts to find areas for potential savings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist or in a similar procurement role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and procurement processes, including inventory management and vendor assessment.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and tools, as well as MS Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage positive relationships with vendors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, ISM) is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of legal regulations and compliance related to procurement and contracts.
