Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOverviewThe Associate Director, Field Reimbursement - Oncology plays a pivotal role in driving the successful reimbursement of oncology treatments. This position is crucial in ensuring that patients have access to life-changing therapies, by leading a team of reimbursement specialists and collaborating cross-functionally to support the reimbursement process for oncology products. The associate director will also provide strategic direction and leadership to enhance access to these therapies, ultimately improving patient outcomes and advancing the organization's presence in the oncology market.
Key responsibilities
  • Lead a team of reimbursement specialists to support providers, patients, pharmacies, and payers in navigating the reimbursement process for oncology products
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure successful reimbursement of oncology treatments, including patient assistance programs, appeals, and prior authorization support
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, market access, and medical teams to align reimbursement strategies with broader commercial goals
  • Provide expertise and guidance on reimbursement policies, coding, and coverage criteria to internal and external stakeholders
  • Engage with key opinion leaders, advocacy groups, and payers to advocate for access to oncology therapies
  • Monitor and analyze reimbursement trends, payer policies, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making
  • Develop and maintain relationships with specialty pharmacies and distribution partners to facilitate product access and support patient assistance programs
  • Coach, mentor, and support the professional development of the reimbursement team
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, guidelines, and industry standards in all reimbursement activities
  • Participate in the development and execution of training programs for internal and external stakeholders

Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as healthcare administration, business, or life sciences; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech reimbursement, with a focus on oncology products
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing reimbursement teams and developing reimbursement strategies
  • Comprehensive understanding of the US healthcare system, reimbursement processes, and payer landscape
  • Proven track record of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, market access, and medical affairs
  • Strong knowledge of oncology reimbursement trends, coding, coverage policies, and patient assistance programs
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify opportunities, and drive innovative reimbursement solutions
  • Experience in navigating regulatory and compliance requirements related to reimbursement activities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving market trends and payer landscape
  • Proficiency in utilizing relevant software and databases for reimbursement analysis and reporting
  • Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address complex reimbursement challenges
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills with the capability to represent the organization at key events and engagements
  • Continuous learning mindset with a commitment to staying updated on oncology market dynamics and reimbursement best practices
