The Mary Campbell Center is first, last, and always, home to 68 residents. Together, staff ensures services are delivered with a high degree of quality, in a homelike environment where residents live with respect, personal dignity, and independence to the fullness of their abilities. The Education Coordinator works with the Education Team to provide resident educational supports to promote cognitive development, resulting in individualized learning outcomes. The Education Coordinator is also charged with promoting the Education Program in a positive manner while adhering to the MCC Guiding Principles and Mission. The Education Coordinator must work reliably, effectively, efficiently, and with respect for residents, staff, families, volunteers, professional consultants, and the physical environment of the Center.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


The Education Coordinator at the Mary Campbell Center must 1) be a good person of high character who consistently works with a positive attitude and demonstrates compassion and understanding for residents with varying degrees of disability; 2 possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (Education, Special Education, Human Services preferred) 3) have experience working with special needs population (preferred); 4) possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; and 5) demonstrate proficiency in utilizing technology tools to effectively manage program reporting and achieve department goals.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  1. Provides "hands-on" instruction with residents (in both individual and group settings) as directed by Lead Education Specialist.
  2. Brainstorms and collaborates with interdisciplinary team to develop and implement engaging programming for residents.
  3. Works with the Education Department team and therapy consultants to assist residents with use of assistive technology as recommended.
  4. Assists the Education Team in objectively evaluating residents' progress and making any subsequent program modifications in order to promote learning and achievement.
  5. Documents daily progress and quarterly progress notes on IPP goals for education programs per procedures.
  6. Attends or participates in Interdisciplinary Team (ID) meeting and Resident Individual Program Plan meetings as requested by the Lead Education Specialist.
  7. Collaborates with the Education and ID team to develop motivational strategies for residents needing additional supports.
  8. Provides feedback to the Lead Education Specialist regarding the needs for educational supplies, materials and equipment.
  9. Supports residents with technology needs and troubleshoots issues as needed
  10. Provides direction and support to interns and volunteers as directed by the Education Specialist
  11. Assists with managing the Snoezelen Room calendar as needed. Provides necessary training to residents and staff.
  12. Provides programming opportunities for respite and community participants as needed.
  13. Accompanies residents in the community for educational outings as directed by the Lead Education Specialist.
  14. Serves on committees as assigned.
  15. Completes all mandatory in-services and attends staff meetings as required.
  16. Performs other duties, as assigned.
