Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionResponsible for supervising manufacturing engineering personnel and projects to meet corporate production and budget goals.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements policies, standards, and procedures for the manufacturing engineering-related technical work performed in the company.
  • Prepares budgets, bids, and contracts and directs the negotiation of capital and expense contracts for manufacturing equipment.
  • Directs, reviews, and approves tooling, fixture, and plant-related design and changes.
  • Plans and directs the installation, testing, operation, and updates of facilities and equipment.
  • Analyzes technology, resource needs, and market demand in order to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
  • Coordinates and directs projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
  • Confers with engineering, management, EHS, and manufacturing to discuss project specifications and procedures.
  • Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
  • Reviews and recommends or approves contracts and cost estimates.
  • Presents and explains proposals, reports, and findings to internal customers.
  • Consults or negotiates with internal clients to prepare project specifications.
  • Sets scientific and technical goals based on broad objectives provided by top management.
  • Directs the engineering projects.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervises non-supervisory employee(s).
    • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Working with Human Resources on employee issues.

  • Effectively communicates information and responds to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, the general public, and other employees of the organization. 
  • Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion with business information.
  • Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Writes routine reports and correspondence.
  • Utilizes common-sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Deals with problems involving several known variables in situations of routine nature.
  • Plans the time, method, manner, and/or performance sequence of own work; may also occasionally assist in planning work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.
  • Frequently makes decisions of both minor and major importance, which may affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a moderate degree.
  • Completes some moderately repetitive tasks.
  • Uses complex and noncomplex machines and equipment.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (required).
  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related field (preferred).
  • Seven or more years of related experience (required). 
  • Five years of supervisory experience (required).
Computer Skills
  • Advanced: CAD software (Creo), ERP (JD Edwards E1).
  • Intermediate: Windchill, Excel, PowerPoint.
