Position Overview:

This role is situated within the engineering department of PDQ Manufacturing, Inc. and is focused on the electrical engineering aspects of vehicle wash product innovation and support. The primary responsibilities encompass the research, development, and enhancement of VWS vehicle wash systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop low-voltage electrical systems, including power distribution and motor control, utilizing Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Employ advanced electrical engineering concepts to inform design choices and evaluate the work of peers.
  • Create cost-effective engineering solutions that prioritize customer value while considering feasibility, risk, and quality.
  • Collaborate with various departments such as Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Sales to address project challenges and ensure product success.
  • Conduct and document design reviews, ensuring compliance with electrical engineering standards and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the approval process for new and existing products to maintain adherence to electrical standards.
  • Develop testing protocols and lead compliance testing to validate design specifications.
  • Generate comprehensive product documentation, including schematics and engineering specifications.
  • Engage in ISO 9001 quality processes, from understanding customer requirements to product release.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and standards, assessing their applicability to new product designs.
  • Act as a technical authority, providing electrical engineering insights and support to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the design of electrical machinery or industrial control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical load calculations, safety design practices, and compliance with NEC and IEC standards.
  • Experience with UL 508A and familiarity with NEC and NFPA-79 is essential.
  • Proficient in the use of sensors and low voltage controls, including fluid control systems and motor drives.
  • Skilled in interpreting and creating electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with CAD software, particularly AutoCAD and SolidWorks, is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to safety in industrial environments.
  • A minimum of an associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with industrial PLC systems.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is highly regarded.
