Position Summary: The Accessioning and Archival Technician includes appraising, arranging and describing permanent records though the Archival process of accessioning. Records are appraised using established records disposition schedules and the records are then arranged adhering to the Archival principles of original order and provenance. The records are then housed in preservation quality folders and containers and accessioning is completed when the records are described according to professional standards in the archival database. The role also includes arranging and prioritizing records for eventual declassification and transfer to the National Archives and Records Administration.

Essential Duties:

  • Performing independent work in accessioning or data entry in a library or similar document management system.
  • Performing and presenting accession reviews.
  • Review records and arrange records in a research-conducive manner and accurate record identification and retrieval.
  • Utilize the Government records management system and Government Records Management Application.
  • Conduct folder level inventory.
  • Create Finding Aids and ensure relevant fields in the finding aid are properly classified and portion-marked in accordance with the original documentation.
  • Recommend whether records are "temporary" or "permanent"
  • Physically remove non-records from collections (e.g. duplicates) based on guidelines.
  • Recommend destruction for temporary records that have satisfied the retention period.
  • Perform preservation efforts on fragile documents. Preserve provenance of records by maintaining the original arrangement and construct of the collection.
  • Support archival-related special projects and activities.

  • Active Top Secret SCI clearance with FS Polygraph

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years performing the duties of the position: Level A
  • 2-4 years performing the duties of the position: Level B
  • 4+ years preforming the duties of the position: Level C
  • High School Diploma
  • Attention to detail is also mandatory for this position. Interaction with other components requires a friendly, can-do attitude
