Role Summary

TEKsystems is seeking a skilled Access Control Technician with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. This role involves working in a commercial setting, focusing on either new installations or upgrades to existing systems. While the primary responsibility is centered around access control systems, there will be opportunities to expand your expertise into various low voltage tasks, including surveillance systems.

Essential Qualifications
  • Proficient in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of commercial access control systems.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and contractual documents.
  • Experience in installing, terminating, and testing low voltage and fiber optic cables, including twisted pair, coaxial, and power-limited tray cables.
  • Team-oriented with a strong aptitude for electronics and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills.
  • Familiarity with terminology related to the installation and servicing of telecommunications, data, security, and wireless systems.
Required Credentials
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training is highly preferred.
  • Capability to follow both written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Positive demeanor, ability to collaborate with others, and effective communication skills with clients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Utilization of small hand tools (personal basic hand tools required).
  • Operation of power tools.
  • Engagement in physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving items up to 100 pounds.
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding as necessary.
  • Work in various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
Additional Skills & Experience
  • Certifications in relevant fields are advantageous.
  • Programming knowledge is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided for those with a strong desire to learn.
  • Experience with CCTV and access control systems is a plus.
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications are highly regarded.
