What We’re Searching For
The Municipal Association of South Carolina is accepting resumes for the position of financial specialist for the risk management services department.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Performs moderately complex technical accounting duties in support of Risk Management Services (RMS); performs daily cash management and monitoring of bank accounts; posts daily RMS cash receipts and receivable billings; reconciles monthly cash and investment statements from numerous accounts; reconciles various accounts such as prepaid expenses, enters W-9 for new vendors; manages outstanding receivables;
- Assists with annual audit preparation; prepares audit workpapers and provides assistance to auditors as requested; assists with monthly closing as needed; prepares journal entries and assists with balancing general ledger; assists with maintaining accounting records and the escheatment process; assist in testing and implementing changes/updates to various software and other interfaces; Prepares and remits annual 1099 claims data to payees and the IRS.
- Assists with RMS grant programs; assists in entering claims as needed; processes claims checks, including ACH; performs general administrative/clerical work as required.
Qualifications included but are not limited to:
- Bachelor’s degree or education/experience equivalent to four years of college education in accounting, finance or a closely related field.
- Minimum of two years of experience in the field of accounting is preferred.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication and customer service skills; A self-starter with a good work ethic will do well in this role. Public sector knowledge is helpful but not required.
Pay and Benefits Info: Competitive salary commensurate with experience and an excellent benefits package including South Carolina State Retirement and insurance. Flexible work arrangements are available after a training and orientation period.
