The Role

 

EnergyX is looking for a highly motivated analytical chemist to lead and support a team responsible for development and execution of routine and non-routine chemical analysis testing and failure analysis processes within our quality materials and chemical analysis lab. FOCUS on ICP-OES and Flame AA analysis of Li, Na, K, Mg, Ca and more. This role will develop and optimize analytical chemistry processes with a multidiscipline lab team responsible for the ongoing analytical testing support of the development and role out of EnergyX’s Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) Technologies. In this role you will works closely with EnergyX’s Science, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Engineering teams to coordinate cross-functional activities that improve ion analysis and testing capabilities with the highest standards of safety, quality, and output. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting.

Responsibilities


  • Work within a chemical analysis team of scientists and technicians performing routine quality testing as well as high priority/rapid response projects
  • Ensure testing is performed following established procedures and good laboratory practices through training and technical assistance
  • Perform chemical testing of raw materials and finished products such as elemental analysis by ICP-OES, Flame AA, anions/cations by IC, volatile organic compounds by GC/MS, TOC, specific gravity, pH, titrations, and various other tests as needed – FOCUS on ICP-OES and Flame AA analysis of Li, Na, K, Mg, Ca and more.
  • Perform maintenance for all chemical analytical equipment including daily preventative maintenance, calibration curves, troubleshooting, working with service engineers, maintaining databases, logs, and associated supplies.
  • Support the development, validation, and implementation of new chemical testing procedures for new business units and manufacturing lines
  • Perform non-routine sample analysis and failure investigations
  • Identify and support the implementation of best testing and safety practices to provide consistently high level of timely laboratory services
  • Escalate circumstances that may affect the quality and/or integrity of scientific operations
  • Author standard operating procedures and trainings for laboratory users
  • Interpret and communicate results of non-routine and failure analysis testing to cross-functional factory teams
  • Support quality and lab operational processes and improvements including:
  • Technical process design
  • Documentation Management
  • Sample and Data Management
  • Validation
  • Training

 

Requirements

 

  • 5+ years of experience in ICP-OES and Flame AA analysis of Li, Na, K, Mg, Ca and more.
  • Experience with and knowledge of OSHA laboratory regulations and requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize in highly dynamic environment
  • Strong analytic problem solving skills
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Fluency in Spanish highly desired
