Overview:

Curatio Careers is a dynamic organization committed to providing high-quality language education to non-native English speakers. Our mission is to empower students with the language skills necessary for success in their chosen fields. As we expand our programs, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced ESL Instructor to join our team on a contract basis, specifically focusing on preparing non-native English speakers for nursing certification. As an ESL instructor in our program, you’ll play a crucial role in helping students achieve language proficiency necessary for success in nursing studies and exams. If you have a passion for education, excellent communication skills, or a background in nursing or healthcare, we encourage you to apply.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver nursing-focused ESL lessons: Create customized lesson plans that integrate nursing terminology, medical communication, and language skills. Address specific language needs related to healthcare settings, patient interactions, and documentation.
  • Assess student language proficiency: Evaluate students’ abilities in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, tailoring instruction to address specific areas of improvement.
  • Prepare students for nursing exams: Help students build the language skills required for nursing certification exams (such as the NCLEX-RN). Focus on medical vocabulary, patient care scenarios, and critical thinking skills.
  • Foster a supportive learning environment: Create a positive classroom atmosphere where students feel motivated and engaged. Encourage active participation and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty: Work closely with nursing instructors to align language instruction with the nursing curriculum. Provide timely feedback on students’ language progress.
  • Track student progress: Regularly assess and report on student development. Identify areas for improvement and offer targeted support.
  • Provide cultural competence training: Help students understand cultural nuances relevant to healthcare settings in the US. Enhance their ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Support students’ transition to nursing programs: Assist with application processes and orientation. Guide students through the requirements for nursing studies.

Qualifications

  • ESL teaching certification (such as TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare, or related field (preferred but not required)
  • Experience teaching non-native English speakers, especially those interested in nursing
  • Knowledge of nursing terminology and healthcare communication
  • Strong communication skills and cultural awareness
  • Familiarity with nursing certification exam words (e.g., NCLEX-RN)
