Responsibilities:  As designated by the Chief Quality and Risk Officer the Quality Improvement and Risk Project Specialist is focused managing projects that work to ensure compliance with HRSA guidelines, reduce risk, and improve quality and operations as outlined below.

                                                                                                                                   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Assist in regular Federal, State and local reporting and recognition activities.
  • Ensure HRSA compliance through regular clinical credential reviews and updates.
  • Facilitates and participates in activities such as, but not limited to task forces, work groups, performance improvement and project teams and activities (e.g.: proactive risk assessment, PDSA) to improve results evidenced in outcomes data.
  • Assist in the development of quality and risk mitigation reports using appropriate graphic presentations of data to become informational, develop and present scorecards/dashboards allowing the organization to make data driven decisions.
  • Serves as a resource to C-Suite team members as needed and other team members as requested and approved by the CQRO.
  • Act as DRVS administrator, provide support and training to staff as well as maintain accurate mapping in the system.
  • Coordinates quality assurance/improvement and risk management activities within the organization.
  • Develops and monitors clinical and management indicators based on internal and external benchmarks.
  • Establishes efficient methods of data collection and assists in workflow process improvement.
  • Measures quality of care against established targets, organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
  • Works extensively with EHR software and responsible for medical record functions and their compliance with State and Federal requirements.
  • Communicates quality improvement activities and results through regular reports to the Board, leadership and staff.
  • Provides staff education on quality improvement models, risk management, corporate compliance and privacy policies.
  • Provides data reporting on UDS clinical indicators, meaningful use measurers, state/federal collaborative activities, and patient satisfaction program
  • Coordinates data to meet and maintain PCMH, HEDIS, Meaningful Use and other recognition requirements.
  • Serves as a risk management specialist for the organization.

 

                                                                                                                                                                                   

Qualifications Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

 

Education and/or experience:  Bachelor’s degree business, healthcare, or related field is preferred.  Experience with electronic health record software preferred. Approximately 2 years’ experience in healthcare analytics is highly preferred. Experience with risk management processes (legal, compliance, or audit) preferred.


Language Skills:  Strong verbal and written communication/collaboration skills with various groups at all levels of the organization.


Mathematical Skills:  Basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division are required. The ability to detect patterns is highly preferred.


Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, follow federal, state and health care regulations. 


Preferred Skills:  Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced knowledge of Excel or a comparable data transformation system is required. SQL and custom report writing, data base creation and management, demonstrated proficiency in software packages including but not limited to Microsoft products, experience in healthcare, clinical/operations experience is preferred.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This includes moderate physical effort consisting of occasionally lifting or moving over 35 pounds of weight. Work Environment:  There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will not be exposed to blood-borne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Knowledge of, and compliance with, HIPAA regulations is required. Confidentiality of COMC proprietary information is mandatory.

 

Travel Requirement: To fulfill the responsibility of the position travel to various areas of the region is required.  Employee must have valid Missouri driver’s license and availability of a motor vehicle.  Overnight travel may also be required in specific incidences of training, conferences, etc.
