Position Summary: The Mental Health and Wellness Specialist will facilitate groups on social/emotional health and coping skills based on treatment plan goals. The Mental Health and Wellness Specialist will develop lesson plan topics weekly to address treatment plan goals in accordance of individuals, write case notes for each person and obtain supervision from Director of Mental Health and Wellness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and facilitate psychoeducational groups in coping and/or life management skills that will benefit people receiving services.
  • Observe, document, and have discussions with group participants on a daily basis to assess their status in Social/ Emotional Health and coping skills.
  • Provide direct care and support to clients by teaching, engaging, enriching or encouraging them daily and may be counted as part of supervision ratio in order to satisfy compliance requirements.
  • Document the outcomes of each participant on a daily and monthly basis, with references to the status of the person’s mental health, use of coping skills, progress towards goals, and staff member’s actions to help accomplish treatment goals.
  • Develop a weekly plan for psychoeducational topics that addresses issues related to the treatment goals of participants in attendance and implement this plan in a manner that encourages group discussions and acquisition of needed skills. Document the topic, level of participation and significant information shared by each individual attending the session.
  • Complete required program documentation according to funders and license guidelines.
  • Conduct interviews/intake assessments with participants receiving services to identify person-centered goals for recommended inclusion in Treatment Plans; assess skills related to such goals to identify starting point for training and/or support.
  • Assist people in making choices by educating them about options, discussing pros and cons of possible decisions and respecting choices made, unless it is likely to endanger the person’s health, safety and/or is likely to result in law enforcement involvement.
  • Work in collaboration with other Arc of Palm Beach staff to assure a holistic approach to client centered service.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University with a focus in Human Services field preferred or Behavioral Technician Certification.
  • Six months experience with facilitating or co-facilitating group activities.
  • One-year experience working with people with a Mental Health diagnosis.
  • One-year experience working with people with an Intellectual Disability diagnosis.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Florida’s Driver’s License and state minimum requirements for auto insurance.
