ESP is actively looking to bring an experienced CEI Inspector on to our team for highways bridge projects throughout Fayetteville. Previous experience in the inspection of transportation projects and certifications from NCDOT are required. Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a high-level Tech II or Tech III inspector on NCDOT and County transportation construction projects performing inspection services for asphalt, concrete, erosion control, traffic control, earthwork, and other construction materials and processes as influenced by the project
  • Ensure the operations being covered by the inspector are executed by the contractor as outlined in the NCDOT Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures manual as well as the Roadway Standard Drawings manual
  • Analyze, understand, and execute tasks, and provide any feedback needed to upper-level inspectors or project management
  • Coordinate schedules, distribute tasks, and provide support to the lower-level inspectors
  • Complete daily reports of Earthwork Construction logbook, activity logs, progress updates, and any other necessary documentation as per management or client
  • Ensure project organization and coordination with other field personnel
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly estimates to include verifying, recording, and reporting quantities for job operations
  • Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures are followed per plans and specifications
  • Obtain, prepare, record and review all materials used for the project to ensure correspondence with specifications
  • Measure and verify the precision of dimensions, installations, and construction activity

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in roadway construction inspection
  • Currently possess or have the ability to obtain the following certifications:
    1. NCDOT Intro to Asphalt
    2. NCDOT Erosion Control Level 1
    3. NCDOT Erosion Control Level 2
    4. NCDOT ABC Sampling
    5. NCDOT Borrow Pit Sampling
    6. NCDOT Conventional Density
    7. NCDOT QMS Roadway
    8. NCDOT QMS Density Gauge
    9. NCDOT Concrete Field Technician
    10. NCDOT ABC Nuclear Density
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Must be able to have the ability to work nights, holidays, and weekends as needed
  • Candidates will be required to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
