RK&K is hiring an experienced Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in Fayetteville, NC. The Construction Inspector will conduct field inspections for a wide range of Transportation, Highways and Structural construction projects in the heavy civil industry.

Essential Function

As a construction inspector in RK&K's Construction/CEI division you will perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are being used; and that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions

  • Multitask management of project assignments
  • Conduct field inspections
  • Use mobile devices to document work - as required in North Carolina
  • Reviews drawings to prepare for the inspection. Understands the design of the construction that will be inspected
  • Documents the results of the inspection and communicates to the supervisor
  • Conducts field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentation
  • Inspects work zones for proper traffic control setup, erosion control devices and maintenance thereof, utility coordination and right-of-way issue resolution

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least two (2) years of roadway inspection experience for highway construction methods, materials, standards and specifications.
  • Valid driver's license and favorable driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • NCDOT Certifications preferred:
  • NCDOT Erosion & Sediment Control Level II
  • NCDOT Introduction to Asphalt Pavements
  • NCDOT QMS Roadway Technician
  • NCDOT Concrete Field Technician
  • ACI Concrete Field Technician
  • NCDOT ABC Sampling Technician
  • NCDOT Borrow Pit Sampling Technician
  • NCDOT Conventional Density Technician
  • NICET Certifications
