Founded in 2003, PEG Companies is a vertically integrated owner, operator, and developer of multifamily, hospitality, and build-to-rent assets in the U.S. and Canada, focusing on the Mountain West. Headquartered in Provo, Utah, PEG manages over $1.9B of AUM across seven commingled funds and various separate accounts with over 1,100 employees.
Accounting Department and Fund Accounting Team Overview:
The Accounting Department is centralized at PEG Companies and serves the various departments across the organization. The Accounting Department is led by a Senior Controller who reports directly to the CFO. Various Controller, Assistant Controllers, and Treasury report to the Senior Controller and manage the various functions across the Accounting Department. The Assistant Controller leads the Corporate Accounting Team. The Corporate Accounting Team works with all departments in the company and is responsible for reporting to Management. The Corporate Accounting team is innovative, solving problems, both macro and micro, within the vertically integrated corporate structure.
Responsibilities:
This position will play a crucial role in Corporate Accounting with responsibilities that include:
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and partner statements.
- Work with managers, analysts, various accounting teams, and other internal and external users to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare financial reports in compliance with U.S. GAAP and other standards, where applicable, as they relate to investment companies, principles of consolidation, and fair value measurement.
- Ensure Cash is reconciled, and Accounts Receivable are in order daily.
- Support all management and accounting teams on internal and external billing.
- Interpret governing documents to ensure proper application of terms for investor allocations, management fees, and carried interest.
- Drive continual process improvement through the use and implementation of technology.
- Follow PEG policies and procedures and comply with state and federal laws.
Requirements:
- Self-Starter
- BA – Accounting, (Working towards a CPA preferred)
- Accounting Experience preferred.
- The ability to work with people from various backgrounds.
- The ability to work within a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiar with online platforms (Asana, Outlook, Microsoft Teams…)
- Analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness and proficiency to do research on historical financial transactions and legal issues.
- Organization & Critical thinking skills
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at desk.
- Must be able to operate a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard and tolerate prolonged periods performing work using a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
