SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE:
Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division Dam Neck Activity (NSWCDD DNA) provides support for Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity (Cyber), Safety, Test and Evaluation (T&E), and Readiness support for assigned systems. These system assignments include the hardware, software, subsystems, and elements that comprise the specific system. These activities are conducted in support of the United States (U.S.) Navy, Multi-National and Multi-Agency Naval and Department of Defense (DOD) sponsors.
GENERAL DUTIES OR EXPERIENCE:
- Plans and designs systems infrastructure including the implementation and design of hardware. Analyzes, develops, modifies, tests and maintains the system. Verifies and validates systems meets internal and external requirements. Diagnoses problems and provide recommendations for improvement on existing and new systems.
- A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group.
- Support the systems integration engineering management planning efforts and support of key programmatic and process documents.
- Provide programmatic technical briefings and point papers that may be presented.
- Collaborate with stakeholders such as Navy field activities, Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) and NAVSEA codes, and other Navy, military and agency program participants to discuss engineering level issues and topics.
- Review concepts, plans, demonstrations, and other documents as required, providing analysis and recommendations.
- Support capability phasing and conduct requirements analysis as required.
Desired Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline
Desired Experience:
- At least six (6) years full-time professional experience working as a systems engineer.
- At least one major shipboard, non-propulsion electronic subsystem.
- At least two (2) years must have been fulltime experience at the system level.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. The employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and must account for the hours in a pay period to maintain full-time status.
Telework:
This position allows for up to 15% telework.
Travel:
Up to 10% travel may be required.
