Job Summary

The Bookkeeper will be taking the lead on maintaining accurate financial records in Quickbooks and ensuring compliance with GAAP principles. As a startup, there is potential for this position to expand to more days per week in the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and manage accounts receivable.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate and prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Expense Tracking: Monitor and categorize expenses, ensuring all are accurately recorded.
  • Payroll Assistance: Assist with payroll processing and related tasks.
  • Compliance: Ensure all financial practices comply with legal requirements and internal policies.
  • State Tax Credits: Manage and apply for state tax credits / incentives, ensuring all documentation and submissions are timely and accurate.
  • Project Level Cost Tracking: Track costs at the production/project level to ensure budget adherence and provide detailed financial reports for each project.
  • Data Entry: Accurately enter financial data into accounting software.
  • Support: Provide support for annual audits and tax preparation.
  • Communication: Liaise with vendors, clients, and staff regarding financial matters.
  • Collaboration: Work with the CEO, CFO, Production Supervisor, and EA to ensure accurate and efficient financial management.
 Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping or related experience, with a strong preference for experience in production accounting within the documentary film and television industry.
  • Education: Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
    • Proficiency in MS Excel and other office applications.
    • Experience with state tax credits and related documentation.
  • Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Work Environment
  • This position requires the Bookkeeper to work on-site one day per week
  • Fun, Creative, and Collaborative office environment.
