Position: Construction Instructor

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Construction Instructor to empower young adults through hands-on learning experiences. In this role, you will engage both in the classroom and on construction sites, providing valuable construction skills and work experience to support their career development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professional Development: Engage in train-the-trainer courses to effectively teach nationally recognized construction certification curricula, including OSHA 30 + 10 and NCCER Core.
  • Instruction and Testing: Conduct OSHA and NCCER training sessions, administer credential tests, and monitor and report on participant progress and results.
  • Remedial Support: Offer additional assistance to trainees and volunteer tutors as needed to ensure successful learning outcomes.
  • Hands-On Training: Teach general construction skills such as demolition, rough framing, roofing, drywall, and finish carpentry.
  • Project Supervision: Oversee and guide students on construction and community service projects, ensuring safety and adherence to proper techniques.
  • Tool and Equipment Management: Operate and maintain construction tools, materials, and equipment; ensure safety in the lab and on worksites.
  • Safety and Standards: Model and reinforce proper construction techniques and safety procedures, including the use of hand and power tools.
  • Community Projects: Contribute to the planning and execution of community service projects.
  • Participant Observations: Attend case management meetings, providing feedback on participants’ strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory of tools, materials, and supplies; maintain a weekly log.
  • Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by removing obstacles and hazards; handle materials; assemble and disassemble temporary structures; and perform clean-up tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: High School diploma required; proven experience as a general laborer in the construction industry.
  • Certification: OSHA or MIOSHA certification preferred; first aid and CPR training is desired.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Skills: Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions; strong commitment to training and developing young adults aged 18-24.
  • Background Check: Must pass a school fingerprint background check.
  • Reliability: Must be punctual, dependable, and dedicated.
