Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive culinary arts curriculum that includes fundamental cooking techniques, nutrition, kitchen safety, and food preparation.

Instruction:

  • Provide engaging and interactive instruction to youth of varying skill levels, ensuring each student is supported and challenged appropriately.

Practical Training:

  • Guide students through hands-on culinary projects, including recipe development, meal planning, and cooking, ensuring a focus on both creativity and technique.

Assessment:

  • Evaluate and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.

Kitchen Management:

  • Teach students about kitchen organization, cleanliness, and safety protocols to maintain a professional and hygienic cooking environment.

Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other instructors, staff, and community partners to support program goals and enhance the overall educational experience.

Mentorship:

  • Serve as a mentor and role model for students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Community Engagement:

  • Participate in community outreach and events to promote LTYC's programs and build relationships with local organizations and stakeholders.

Professional Development:

  • Continuously seek opportunities for professional growth and development in the field of culinary arts education.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Culinary Education, or a related field. Certification from an accredited culinary school is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching culinary arts to youth, preferably in a school or community-based setting.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in various cooking techniques and cuisines. Strong understanding of nutrition, kitchen safety, and food hygiene.

Communication:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to connect with and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.

Creativity:

  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in teaching methods and recipe development.

Team Player:

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues.

Passion:

  • A genuine passion for the culinary arts and a commitment to empowering youth through creative expression.
